The parish church of St Everilda in Nether Poppleton, a few miles north of York, has its origins to the 7th century, and still retains stained glass from the 13th and 14th centuries. It is one of only two churches in England named after this 7th century Saxon saint. The churchyard is a peaceful and quietly unassuming place.
